There are often more sign details to consider than one might realize: Sign location; Type of sign(s) allowed; Sign Permits required; Engineering Review requirements if needed; Design Needs, etc. Vital Signs will provide sign planning and consultation services at our Carnegie, PA. location or at the customer’s location if needed.

Exterior signs typically require a sign permit. Each municipality has established zoning codes which specify what type/size of sign(s) may be displayed. Some cities/townships or municipalities require the person obtaining the sign permit to be a licensed contractor in the city in which the sign will be placed. Also, many zoning offices require a detailed drawing/diagram of the proposed sign measurements, material the sign(s) are crafted from and how it will be mounted, a plot plan showing where it will be mounted on the building surface. Many cities require a professional engineer (PE) to review the sign and mounting method to ensure that the sign will be mounted properly to sustain wind load. Also, it will be necessary to have an occupancy permit for your business location. This process can be time-consuming, but is a necessity to be in legal sign compliance. Vital Signs is happy to take care of the details for you.

After design completion of your project (sign/custom graphics), Vital Signs will send you an art proof for your approval. After receiving your written approval, Vital Signs will begin fabrication of your sign or graphics. Some products are not fabricated in-house at the Vital Signs location. For those projects, we work with trusted sub-contractors to produce your project.
